"I purchased the White Top Adventures Rear Tire Carrier + Ladder over Labor Day weekend, and so far I’m very happy with it. Installation was straightforward, and I was able to install the whole thing by myself. The fit and finish are top-notch and, in my opinion, right up there with some of the more expensive, well-known brands. I’ll admit I was a little hesitant to order it after reading some negative comments about White Top on various forums, but I decided to give them a chance. I’m glad I did. I took my Sprinter Van up to Big Bear last week, and the carrier performed perfectly—solid, no issues, and exactly what I was hoping for. Good and bad of installation of the tire carrier

"Firstly, the quality of the tire rack is very good. It arrived very well packaged with no damage to the parts. I was surprised there was not a material packing list included in the box nor was there an installation quide in the box. I realize that the website has PDF file one can download and a video quide as well. Not a bid deal but was surprising especially no parts list, how did I know whether or not all of the parts were included without the list? I do have a suggestion to aid installation of the carrier to the door. I watched the video several times and it was very helpful but I had difficulty using the "drill template" to mark the center of the hole since the template is 3 dimensional in nature. For someone who has not installed this item before it was not easy to eyeball the exact location of that hole. I made a cardboard template by tracing the outline of the "drill template" and exact center of the desired hole made it very easy to mark the position of the hole to drill. Next, the install video shows the lower and upper hinge backing plates have the nuts already attached. That would make installation by one person feasible. Unfortunately the plates I received did not have the nuts attached which made single person installation impossible, at least for me. There was no way to hold the carrier in position while simultaneously trying to hold both the backing plate in place while trying to install the nut. I am very happy with the product and final installation."

What are the 180-degree hinges? Do I already have them? Do I need to buy them?

The tire carrier requires your rear doors to open fully (180 degrees) so the tire clears the van body. Most 2019+ Sprinters come with 180-degree hinges from the factory — check if your rear doors swing fully open to lie flat against the van. If your doors stop at ~90 degrees, you need the 180-degree hinge upgrade. We sell the OEM-style Sprinter 180° hinges separately on our site. For 4x4 models and Winnebago Revel builds, confirm your hinge type before ordering.

Does the ladder actually extend all the way to the top of a high roof Sprinter?

Yes — it is specifically designed for the high roof Sprinter and extends to the top of the van. The installation video shows it clearly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmDbNglq3dg.

If you have a standard/low roof Sprinter, this product is not compatible.

What size spare tire will fit on the carrier? Will 305s or 315s fit?

The carrier is designed for standard Sprinter spare tire sizes. Regarding large aftermarket tires: 315s have been reported to prevent the rear door from opening fully without hitting the Mercedes emblem. 305s may clear depending on the exact rim offset. If you're running non-stock tires, contact us before ordering at info@whitetopadventures.com — we can confirm clearance for your specific setup.

Will this fit my Sprinter? (2016, 2020, 2022, 2025, etc.)

The Sprinter Rear Tire Carrier Ladder is compatible with all Sprinter high roof vans from 2019 onward with standard 180-degree rear door hinges.

Yes — the Transit Rear Tire Carrier Ladder is a separate product available at whitetopadventures.com/collections/transit.
