⚠️ Heads up — check your hinges first. The Rear Door Atlas Storage Rack requires your van's rear doors to open 180°. Some Sprinter vans come with 180° hinges from the factory, but not all. If yours don't open fully flat, you'll need to add them before installing.

Your rear door is wasted space. Not anymore.

The White Top Adventures Rear Door Storage Rack transforms the passenger-side rear door of your Sprinter into a fully functional, ready-for-anything mounting platform. Whether you're hauling surfboards to the coast, bikes to the trailhead, or storage boxes across the country — this rack handles it without compromise.

Built from heavy-duty aluminum and finished to resist the elements, this rack installs directly to your factory door hinges and frame with standard hardware — straightforward enough for a weekend morning. It's designed to work seamlessly alongside our Sprinter Rear Tire Carrier Ladder for a complete rear door cargo system — or run it solo as a standalone upgrade.

Mount What You Want. Go Where You Want.

The universal mounting surface means this rack plays well with virtually any gear:

  • Surfboards & paddle boards — hit the coast with boards secured and ready
  • Bikes — pair with your favorite bike mount for a clean, trail-ready setup
  • Jerry cans & fuel storage — extend your range for the long hauls
  • Storage boxes & pelican cases — keep tools, recovery gear, or camp essentials locked up and accessible
  • Roof cargo baskets — stack vertical when you need the room
  • Awning tie-downs, gear nets, accessory rails — the rack is your canvas

Built to Last

  • Aerospace-grade aluminum construction — strong, lightweight, rust-proof
  • Bolt-on installation — works with factory door hardware on Mercedes Sprinter vans
  • Powder coat finish — matte black that stands up to road spray, salt air, and UV
  • Clearance-engineered — opens and closes without interference, rated for real-world loads

Add Rack Poles

Pair with our Rear Door Rack Poles to carry surfboards, snowboards, paddleboards, and skis — clean, upright, and rattle-free on the road.

Fits

Mercedes Sprinter 144" & 170" wheelbases — passenger side rear door. Accessories such as poles, boxes, and trays are sold separately.

good quality

"I liked the quality of the rack; the fit and finish is amazing and the weld quality is better than Owl (maybe the B2 tubes I have is old; they may have improved). We travel a lot for kids bike races, had been to Phoenix and Redlands earlier this year and will be doing a cross-country trip twice this summer"

Great looking and the best price!

"Finish is great and the price is right. It was relatively easy to install, but you do need two people to install. Fit is very tight and has to be in a perfect position to easily install the bolts on the hinges. Looking forward to adding the box!"

Q&A

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does shipping take? Do you ship internationally?

In-stock orders ship within 1–2 business days from our Tustin, CA warehouse and arrive in 3–7 business days. The rack and basket ship in separate boxes — if a box is missing, contact us with your order number and we'll reship immediately. We ship to Canada and internationally — email info@whitetopadventures.com with your full address and order list for a shipping quote. For local pickup: 14831 Franklin Ave, Tustin, CA 92780. Mon–Thu 9AM–4PM, Fri 9AM–3PM.

How much weight can the Atlas rear door rack hold?

The Atlas rear door rack (MOLLE panel) is rated for 200 lbs. The full rack system including the storage box is rated for 300 lbs. Always stay within Mercedes-Benz's maximum rear door weight rating for your specific van. For e-bikes: confirm combined weight of both bikes before mounting.

Does my Sprinter need 180-degree hinges?

Yes — the Atlas rear door rack requires 180-degree rear door hinges. Most 2019+ Sprinters have them from the factory. If you have 270-degree hinges (common on older Sprinters and some Transit configurations), the rack will contact the side of the van when the door is fully opened. We sell the OEM-style 180° hinge upgrade separately. For Ford Transit with 270-degree 'super wide swing' doors: the rack is designed for Sprinter — Transit compatibility depends on your specific door geometry. Contact us before ordering.

Do you make an Atlas rack for the driver-side rear door?

Not currently — the Atlas Storage Rack is available for the passenger-side rear door only. A driver-side version has been requested by multiple customers. Sign up for new product notifications at whitetopadventures.com to be alerted if it launches. For Sprinter MOLLE panels: we do sell separate lower door MOLLE panels for the interior side windows — these are a different product from the rear door rack.

What is the rubber spacer for? Do I need Loctite? Should I use longer bolts?

The rubber spacer goes on the lower hinge mount only — it spaces out the mount between the hinge and the lower door attachment point. If your unit isn't rubbing on the lower hinge, you can set it aside. Blue Loctite on the bolt brackets is recommended but not required — the stainless bolt in an aluminum nut plate generates enough friction. Do NOT use longer bolts or add nuts behind the hinge plates — longer bolts will interfere with the hinge mechanism when the door is closed and can damage the hinge or door.

Will the Atlas rack work on a Ford Transit or RAM ProMaster?

The Atlas rear door rack is currently designed for the Sprinter passenger-side rear door. A Transit rear door rack is in development — multiple Transit customers have requested it. For Transit customers with a third-party rear door panel (e.g. Flatline Van Co): the Atlas storage box can be mounted to most rear door panels by measuring the hole spacing and drilling additional holes if needed. For ProMaster: no rear door rack available currently.
