2021 Ford Transit AWD HR Tire Carrier Ladder

"Over all it's really nice rack. I looked at the other offerings, Flatline, Owl, Rover. . etc and they all seemed to have their pro's and con's. They are local here in SoCal, so I was able to stop by and see it in person. Construction seems to be solid, everything bolted together nicely. The design IMOP looks really good. It's got solid mounting points to the hinges and the rear door. At $1150 delivered to your door it's a great value. We ran into one issue with my new wheels (Reika). They have a smaller wheel hub opening. We were able to have the wheel puck turned out in a lathe to fit the new wheel. They are working on a revised wheel puck design to incorporate this new wheel. I think all the other wheels are good to go. They were very responsive with resolving the problem. Big thanks to Cameron and Tony for making it happen. If you do have the Reika AWD wheels I would mention it when ordering and get the correct wheel puck. This may not be a issue in the next month or so once they update the design."

Consistent quality.

"I have installed two the past two weeks. Installed one on my friend’s transit. Inspected the quality and ease of install. Good quality build and supplied hardware. Install in 2-3 hours. The drilling is just nerve wracking but like they say measure twice install once. You will inly need help when its time to lift the spare. Just follow how it was on the video and you’ll manage a solo install until the spare needs to be placed."

Solid product, great price, smooth install

"Install went smoothly and the youtube install video was very helpful. Really nice product overall, well priced and shipped to me within a week. It also looks really good on the back of my van. Will likely be buying more WTA products in the future. 2 things missing from the install video were the hinge bracket spacers and the rear door bracket gasket. The instructions mentioned using the hinge bracket spacers if you had 180 degree hinges. I have these but the spacers werent really needed once everything was fitted up. I saw them on the parts table in the video but I dont think you guys really mentioned when you would need them. I installed the rear door bracket gasket between the L-bracket and drill plate so it wasnt fully metal to metal. I dont think that was in the video either."

Good Tire holder

"Update from previous review. The 4 stars are for the whole experience by the holder itself gets a 5 stars for the holder at the price point. The website and instructions and online video are out of date from their design update, and WTA is aware and is in the middle of updating their website. Relatively easy install. A second person is needed for about 5 ton10 minutes of the install. Design changes not yet shown in the instructions and online video are 1) The tire holding bolt install and 2) tire support bar have changed to a better design. The support bar is now a continuous bar like the sprinter version. One thing that requires modification is that The plastic rim holder did not match the larger bolt tire bolts. I had to drill it the hole for the bolt to go through. Old bolt size is a 14 mm by the new bolt size is a 16 mm. Took 60 seconds to drill out the hole."

How long does installation take? Can I do it myself?

Installation is straightforward and most customers complete it solo. Here is what one of our customer said: "It took about 3 hours of listening to music and enjoying the installation by myself." We also have a step by step video installation guide and written installation guide to help throughout the process.

The holes in the ladder steps — are they L-Track compatible? Can I mount accessories to them?

The current step holes are not standard L-Track holes. If you want to mount accessories using them, a T-bolt tie-down anchor may work as an alternative — contact us at info@whitetopadventures.com and we'll confirm the current best-practice options for your setup.

My backup sensor beeps at the ladder when reversing — what do I do?

This is a known issue on some 2023 Ford Transit models. The ladder position can register as an obstruction. The most common fix is to adjust the ladder mounting position slightly or adjust your sensors. Contact us at info@whitetopadventures.com with and we're happy to help!
